The Hempstead Middle School band held its first concert on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. They worked very hard and did an amazing job! All of the conversations around campus reiterated how great they sounded after only 7 weeks of school! Way to Go!
The faculty and staff at HMS celebrated the end of the 1st 9 weeks grading period with "Crock-tober". It was a great time for all!

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023 the PVAMU Women's basketball team met with the students in our 7th & 8th grade Girls Athletics class. Students learned the importance of positivity, academics and sportsmanship on and off the court.
HMS students who demonstrated growth on their TELPAS during the 2022-2023 school year will take a field trip at the Houston Zoo on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Field trip permission forms were sent home earlier this week and must be returned to participate.

HMS 6th graders who demonstrated growth on their 5th grade STAAR tests last year will join HES on Monday, October 9, 2023, for a field trip to celebrate their success! Permission forms were sent home with eligible students earlier this week.
HMS Football hosted their first home game and Teacher Appreciation Night on September 21, 2023. Although we didn't come out on top, the 7th & 8th grade teams did their best, and we are very proud of their efforts!
On Thursday, September 21, 2023, HMS had their first pep rally of the year. The cheer team, football teams and coaches worked to get our school hyped up for the game!
HMS girls Volleyball had their first home games tonight. All of the teams worked hard and put forth their best effort!
On Thursday, September 14, our 7th and 8th grade football teams headed out to Shepherd! Their energy was still in the air on Friday morning after games well played. The next home game is Thursday, September 21st against Corrigan-Camden. It's also teacher appereciation night!
In keeping with our theme for the homecoming parade, HMS said, "Aloha!" to staff and students on Wednesday by providing leis to everyone on campus!
