
Bobcat Families Save the Date for the Hempstead ISD Athletics All Sports Parent Meeting at 6 p.m. on May 16, 2024. This meeting is for current 5th-11th grade students who are interested in participating in Athletics during the 2024-2025 school year. HMS students and staff put on a great Black History Program for the student body on February 23rd to celebrate the accomplishments of successful black entertainers. Here are the highlights.




Congratulations to the Hempstead Middle School Band! Today, they completed their UIL concert and sightreading evaluation with outstanding results! In concert, they received a Division II (Excellent), and for their sightreading, they received a Division I (Superior). Way to Go!



Quarter 3 Benchmark and STAAR Interim Testing will take place each day next week-March 4th-8th. Please be sure your students are in attendance and on time each day so they can "Show what they know!" They have all been working so hard, and we want to celebrate their achievements!


Reminder: Tomorrow is the 7th grade field trip! This will be a mostly outdoor event, and tomorrow morning, temps will be in the 50s & 60s while students are out and about. Please keep this in mind as your student is getting ready for school in the morning. Have a great evening!


7th Grade Field Trip:
On March 1st, all 7th graders will be taking a field trip to Washington on the Brazos. If you have not returned your permission slip, please do so by Wednesday, February 28th. If you need a permission slip, there are extras in the front office.


ATTENTION PARENTS:
After-school tutoring will be adjusted as follows for the week of Feb. 25-29, 2024:
Monday, Feb. 26: ONLY 6th grade will attend.
Tues., Feb. 27: ONLY 7th grade will attend.
Thurs., Feb. 29: ONLY 8th grade will attend.
Tutoring will end at 4:30.

A few of our HMS Principles of Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources (AFNR) students took a trip to the HHS Ag barn today. Come out to HHS Course Selection Night this evening to learn more about the AFNR graduation pathway as well as other pathways and programs offered at HHS!

Early College High School Update: We had 58 8th grade students who applied to ECHS! On Tuesday & Wednesday of this week, these students will complete the writing portion of their application. Please be sure your scholar is here for this important part of the application process!

Earlier this month our BETA Club students represented our campus in a state event. We're so proud of their accomplishments!




The Valentine's Day dance this weekend was a blast! The teachers/chaperones looked like they had just as much fun as the students!











Just a reminder that course selection sheets for 6th graders moving up to 7th grade, and 7th graders moving up to 8th grade are due tomorrow! February 16, 2024. Requests are put in as they are received, and a student's preferred class may fill up quickly!

This past Thursday, February 1st, was Red Out day at the HMS basketball game. Shout out to the brave teachers & coaches who were willing to take a pie in the face to "Do [their] part to save a heart." Thank you to everyone who came out to support this event! We appreciate you!






There are several exciting things on the horizon for HMS! On February 2nd, the Bobcat Boutique will be open for business! Students can spend their PBIS points in the store! Secondly, On February 16th there will be a HMS Valentines dance. Looking further ahead, our semester incentive trip to Silver Wings Ballroom Rollerskating rink will take place on May 16th!
