All families are required to complete the Annual Update in ParentPortal for all returning students by August 6. Our Hempstead ISD app is getting an upgrade! It will soon offer class announcements and parent-teacher chat. Parents & guardians, look for invites via email & text on May 17. Use the login you create for Rooms - in the bottom right of the app to see your student’s classes automatically.

The bond proposal includes an auxiliary gym for Hempstead Middle School. The campus has one gym, shared during the school day with physical education students, pre-athletics, and athletics class periods. This causes both girls and boys to share the gym during school, practices, and on game days. The addition of the auxiliary gym would help alleviate scheduling and class use issues by providing more space for physical education classes, athletic class periods, and athletic games ensuring a smoother and more efficient operation of school programs. 📌Enclosed security connectors (corridors): to The Bobcat Den (Cafeteria/Band Hall) to Hempstead Middle School and between all four buildings at Hempstead Elementary School
📌New Cafeteria and Band Hall at Hempstead High School
Things to Note:
- The current Bobcat Den, built in 1997, sits between the middle school and high school campuses.
- It serves as a cafeteria and band hall for both Hempstead Middle School and Hempstead High School students.
- HMS students have to eat lunch at 10:20 a.m. to accommodate both campuses for lunch. The last lunch at HHS ends at 1:35 p.m.
- The addition of the cafeteria at the High School would allow a regular lunch schedule for all secondary students at the middle and high school.
📌Connecting The Bobcat Den to HMS, building a cafeteria and band hall at the high school, and enclosing all four buildings at the elementary school would help enhance student safety and limit exposure to inclement weather conditions.

Bobcat Bond Fact Friday: Your Money Matters!
Voter approval of the 2024 bond would result in a .1378-cent increase to the district tax rate. The estimated impact would be $15.57 per month for a home valued at $235,557, the average home valuation in Hempstead ISD. Bobcat Families Save the Date for the Hempstead ISD Athletics All Sports Parent Meeting at 6 p.m. on May 16, 2024. This meeting is for current 5th-11th grade students who are interested in participating in Athletics during the 2024-2025 school year. Learn more about the athletic program, expectations, and important dates.
Athletic physicals help assess the overall health of students. Doctors can identify any existing medical conditions, allergies, or potential health concerns that may affect their participation in sports or physical activities.

Hempstead ISD schools will return to normal operations on Wednesday, January 17. All schools and facilities will be open. We want to remind our Bobcat Families to please dress your students appropriately for the cold weather. Please stay weather aware, dress warm, and be safe as you travel.
🚨WEATHER UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution, and the extreme weather conditions, all Hempstead ISD schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 16.
