This week will be another Fun Friday, hosted by PTO! See the flyer for snack prices.

We had a great turnout at HES Spring Open House! Families came to learn about what students are doing in class, how to prepare for upcoming tests, and how they can support students at home. Additional thanks to our PTO and Prairie View A&M for providing snacks and fun!

Join us next Wednesday, January 30th for our spring semester Open House at HES from 5:30-7:00!

Belated congratulations to our December Teacher of the Month, Mr. Ahumada, and Staff of the Month, Mrs. Carrizales! Your dedication and hard work are appreciated!

Hempstead ISD schools will return to normal operations on Wednesday, January 17. All schools and facilities will be open. We want to remind our Bobcat Families to please dress your students appropriately for the cold weather. Please stay weather aware, dress warm, and be safe as you travel.

🚨WEATHER UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution, and the extreme weather conditions, all Hempstead ISD schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 16. We will continue to monitor the conditions regarding decisions for school on Wednesday, January 17, and will let you know as soon as possible. All weather updates for Hempstead ISD will be posted on social media, our district website, and local news media. Be safe and stay warm Bobcats!

HES was showered with blessings from several community groups today! The Prairie View A&M basketball team, Shiloh Baptist Church, and Lone Star Masonic Lodge #85 all shared gift donations for HES students. Thank you all for spreading holiday joy to our students!

Today some HES students were treated to VIP Lunch for showing improvement in either academics or behavior! Teachers nominated students whose efforts are taking them to #HigherHeights in the classroom. These VIP students got to be first in line, receive a special treat and certificate, and eat lunch on the stage while enjoying some holiday entertainment. Great work, Bobcats!

Today HES hosted Hempstead ISD's 3rd annual Tamalada/Pupusada. The community came together for fun, fellowship, and learning to make traditional holiday dishes. Sharing food and culture warms hearts during the holiday season! 🫔🫓

The HES PTO meeting scheduled for Monday, December 11 has been canceled. See you next semester!

Bobcats are feeling the holiday spirit! This week we celebrated by dressing up in Christmas hats, for Reindeer Day, and Elf Day!

HES students traveled to Boling ISD to compete in UIL events after many weeks of preparation. Two HES students placed in the Storytelling Finals - Chloe Herndon, 6th place, second grade, and Alexander Hernandez, 6th place, 3rd grade. Great work, Bobcats!

HES will be holding a Food & Toy Drive for the holiday season December 11-15. Non-perishable food items and toys can be dropped off in the car rider line each morning and collected from bus riders. Help HES spread holiday cheer by giving back to the community!

Congratulations to our November Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Shaffer, and Staff of the Month, Mrs. Hazel! You go above and beyond for HES students and are so appreciated!

Fun Friday snack sales will be happening this Friday, December 1st! Profits support the HES PTO!

Hempstead ISD Schools and Buildings will be CLOSED November 20-24 for Thanksgiving Break. School will resume on Monday, November 27. View District Calendar: https://tinyurl.com/4dyw3vww

HES 5th graders visited Prairie View A&M this week to learn about college, see the campus, and participate in STEM activities with university student groups. College and career readiness begins early, and our students are preparing themselves to reach #HigherHeights!

We are thankful for HES teachers and staff! Royer's Pie Haven graciously donated pies for staff members to have a sweet Thanksgiving treat! 🥧

First graders made chinampas (floating gardens) as a part of their Early American Civilizations unit. Chinampas are man-made islands appearing to float on the surface of the water that were used by the Aztec for farming. Each chinampa represented a crop grown by the Aztec.

Thanksgiving Lunch was a big hit, as always! Thanks to our cafeteria workers and all staff for working together to make the event smooth and enjoyable!
