Dear Parents and Guardians, This is a quick reminder that our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will be taking their Reading Language Arts (RLA) Benchmark exams tomorrow and the following day. These benchmark assessments are valuable check-ins that help our teachers measure student progress, identify areas where we can offer more support, and ensure everyone is on track for success later in the year. Testing Schedule * Dates: Wednesday, February 25th and Thursday, February 26th * Grades: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade * Subject: Reading Language Arts (RLA) How You Can Help Your Child Prepare While students should simply try their best without stressing, you can help set them up for a great testing day at home: * Prioritize Rest: Ensure they get a full, good night’s sleep before both testing days. * Fuel Up: Provide a healthy, filling breakfast in the morning. * Be on Time: Make sure your student arrives at school promptly so they can settle in and feel relaxed before testing begins. * Encourage Them: Remind them that this is just a tool to show what they know, and all we ask is that they give it their best effort! Thank you, William Jeffery Principal

From his festively decorated door to a special gift presented by Ms. Stubblefield, our school took time to show just how much he is appreciated. We are so grateful for his dedication, kindness, and commitment to our students and staff at Hempstead Elementary.

✨ GT Spotlight: Mrs. Hazel & Our Next Creative Challenge! ✨
We are excited to highlight the incredible work happening in Gifted & Talented with Mrs. Hazel!

Across all grade levels, GT students have begun an engaging STEM challenge: designing and building a marble maze 🧠🎢

📸 The pictures shared capture the very first stage of the project, students testing different materials to explore friction and how it impacts the speed of their marbles. Acting as scientists and engineers, students are timing their trials, comparing results, and analyzing which surfaces create the most resistance before deciding what materials they want to include in their maze designs.

This early testing phase helps students practice data collection, problem-solving, and critical thinking, ensuring their final designs are based on evidence rather than guesswork.

A huge thank-you to Mrs. Hazel for leading hands-on, meaningful learning experiences that encourage creativity, experimentation, and thoughtful design. We can’t wait to see how these marble mazes come together! 🌟
