Voter approval of the 2024 bond would result in a .1378-cent increase to the district tax rate. The estimated impact would be $15.57 per month for a home valued at $235,557, the average home valuation in Hempstead ISD. HES is proud to announce our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Stubblefield, and Staff of the Year, Mrs. Lucherk! These ladies were recognized for their outstanding dedication to their students and HES. Congratulations!



More students crushed the Principal's Reading Challenge! Eddie Mata, Damoni Glover, Keshondra Johnson, Jordan Glover, Maurilia Alvarado-Ponce, and Haily Swanson all read 75 books!



Due to conflicts with the STAAR test, Picture Day will be Friday, April 19th. Thank you for helping provide the best testing environment possible for our students!


While the weather made eclipse viewing difficult, some HES students were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this rare phenomenon before the clouds came! Others were able to watch online, see the darkness caused by the total eclipse, or participate in learning and crafts. Fascinating!











3rd through 5th graders are ready to take control of the STAAR tests beginning this week! They attended a STAAR pep rally on Friday and received words of encouragement from Superintendent O'Neil and the HES cheerleaders. 3rd graders brought the energy and were the winners of the coveted Spirit Stick!





5th graders enjoyed their morning celebrating growth on STAAR Interim!










After learning about different habitats, second graders researched an animal, investigated its needs and special characteristics, then created a diorama showing their animal in its habitat. HES students are #WildAboutLearning !

Bobcats in Action 📸: This week our Hempstead Elementary kindergartner students are learning about colonial times and the various jobs or chores people did long ago. During their lesson, they rolled up their sleeves and learned the art of butter churning. #HigherHeights


Our top Accelerated Readers were treated to McDonald's for lunch. They earned AR points by reading books and taking tests about them online. Readers are leaders!




4th graders celebrated STAAR Interim growth in the sunshine today! They have been working hard to improve all year!




Kindergartners have been learning about colonial times and the many different jobs and chores that people did long ago. After learning about how to churn butter, our littlest bobcats decided to try it for themselves!





Third graders who showed growth on their STAAR Interim test enjoyed some extra recess to celebrate their hard work!
