HES 5th graders visited Prairie View A&M this week to learn about college, see the campus, and participate in STEM activities with university student groups. College and career readiness begins early, and our students are preparing themselves to reach #HigherHeights!

First graders made chinampas (floating gardens) as a part of their Early American Civilizations unit. Chinampas are man-made islands appearing to float on the surface of the water that were used by the Aztec for farming. Each chinampa represented a crop grown by the Aztec.

Thanksgiving Lunch was a big hit, as always! Thanks to our cafeteria workers and all staff for working together to make the event smooth and enjoyable!

Last night HES hosted Zoofari STEAM Night with exotic animal visitors! Students and families learned interesting facts about animals and even got to pet a kangaroo joey! HES also officially opened its Little Free Library, a free book exchange system for the community, with the help of Elohai International Publishing. It was an exciting night of learning and fun!

PTO will be selling snacks tomorrow for Fun Friday! All snacks will be $1, see the poster for available treats!

HES students are 50 days smarter! Mrs. Howard's kindergarten class celebrated with sock hop center activities, including listening to the jukebox and making root beer floats!

Happy Halloween from HES!

Students who met their growth measure on the 2023 STAAR test were honored at the HES STAAR Achievement Awards Ceremony. We are so proud of their continuous efforts to grow academically!

October is National Book Month, and HES students have enjoyed having guest readers visit their classrooms to read a book. Thank you, Hempstead staff and community members for promoting a love of reading in our students!

Congratulations to our October Teacher and Staff of the Month - Mrs. Arredondo and Ms. Garvie! Thank you for all your hard work and love for students!

HES students and teachers had a fab-BOO-lous time at the Fall Festival last night!

The Hempstead ES Garden Club is back in action. They have planted broccoli, cabbage, herbs, and marigolds as companion plants. The Waller County Master Gardeners taught the students about the various plant needs. We love our community partners.🌱
