Hempstead ISD is now accepting nominations for 1st -12th-grade students to be screened and possibly placed in the Hempstead ISD Gifted and Talented Program for the 2025-2026 school year.
1st through 12th-grade students may be nominated by administrators, teachers, parents, guardians, themselves, or by any other interested person(s). Nomination forms may be found in the main office of their schools, or you may complete this form.
Nominations will be accepted from now through December 20, 2024.
Screenings for 1st – 12th grade students will begin in January 2025.
Parents will be notified of the results by March 31, 2025.
All kindergarten students were screened in September, and parents will be contacted if they are selected for additional testing. Kindergarten students do not require a referral.

The HES Sunshine Committee delivered treats (no tricks!) to staff members today. Everyone received delicious fall snacks, and maybe an extra special treat to brighten their day!









Lots of fun and creative costumes for Book Character Day at HES - the learning never stops!











Students who made progress on their TELPAS test last spring spent a day at Main Event in Katy. Great work, Bobcats!






The Boyz 2 Men Club hosted another inspiring guest speaker, Mr. Will, a Texas A&M graduate and long-time business owner. The boys learned about managing a franchise and received some tips for starting their own business one day.

Today, second graders had an exciting hands-on experience connecting with the myth of Demeter and Persephone! Students tasted pomegranate seeds, which symbolize Persephone’s connection to the Underworld and the changing of the seasons. This activity not only made the myth more tangible but also sparked meaningful discussions about choices and their consequences.

HES showed our spirit all Homecoming Week!











The Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach program from Texas A&M University engaged our GT students in an inspiring, hands-on lesson about engineering and robotics this week. Students learned about the different fields of engineering offered at universities and about programming (coding) robots. Students had a blast when they were able to apply their knowledge and write code for their own robot, Ozzy!






Happy Friday, Bobcats! Students enjoyed extra recess as a reward for having great attendance!











Muffins with Grandparents/Grandfriends was a great success! Thank you to all who visited our campus this week for a sweet start to your grandchildren's day!
