Hempstead Middle School and High School band students recently competed in the UIL Region 27 Solo and Ensemble contest on February 7 at Cypress Lakes High School.
Ten high school and 14 middle school band students participated in the competition. The students competed in solo and ensemble events. Hempstead Middle School band students received 13 Division 1 ratings and one Division 2 rating. Hempstead High School band students received 10 Division 1 Ratings, 2 Division 2 ratings, 1 Solo Advanced to State, and 2 Ensembles Advanced to State.
