HHS student and family at Academic Signing Day

2026 HHS Academic Signing Day

Hempstead High School hosted its annual Academic Signing Day, honoring graduating seniors in the Class of 2026 who have committed to pursuing college, career, or military pathways after graduation.

Students were recognized individually as they crossed the gym floor, announcing their plans, whether they are enrolling in college or trade school, beginning careers in high-demand industries, or enlisting in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. The celebration included cheers from family members, peers, and staff applauding the students’ dedication and next steps.

“Academic Signing Day is about celebrating every student and their journey,” Hempstead High School principal LaKesha Morgan said. “We are committed to empowering our students to pursue a future that fits their passions and goals.”

In addition to celebrating graduating seniors, the event also recognized rising freshmen from the Class of 2030, the third cohort of the Hempstead Early College High School (ECHS) program. These students were celebrated for their commitment to enrolling in courses at Blinn College beginning next school year. Through the ECHS program, they have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credit hours while completing their high school diploma, at no cost to families, expanding college access and opportunity.
