The Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2026-2027 academic calendar at the February 23 board meeting. Hempstead ISD students attending Hempstead Early Childhood Center, Hempstead Middle School, and Hempstead High School will return to school on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Teachers and campus staff will return on August 12, and teachers who are new to the district will report on August 10 for New Teacher Inservice. Download Calendar in English and Spanish
The scheduled breaks on the calendar are Thanksgiving Break from November 23-27; Winter Break from December 21 to January 1, 2027; and Spring Break from March 8-12.
The calendar was drafted by the Hempstead ISD District Education Improvement Committee, which collected a variety of data and input from parents and district staff members. The district held a survey for community feedback in early February.
