Principals Month Graphic

October is National Principals Month!

During the month of October, Hempstead ISD is celebrating National Principals Month. Each year school districts take time to thank principals for their dedication to students, staff, and families.

Principals are educators and leaders who inspire students, teachers, and staff every day. They offer support and are committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all students.

The Hempstead ISD Principals include Keri Houston, Hempstead Early Childhood Center; Dr. Brittanee Shiflett, Hempstead Elementary; Dr. Rhonda Smith, Hempstead Middle School; and LaKesha Morgan, Hempstead High School.

“Being a principal is a tough job,” Superintendent Herbert O’Neil said. “Our principals work hard every single day, sometimes from sun up to sun down, to ensure that our students have the best every day.”

Principals play a vital role in the success of our students and our schools. Throughout the month, help us thank our Hempstead ISD principals for creating a culture of pride and excitement for learning.

Leadership

A strategic plan clearly defines what a Hempstead ISD leader is in the Profile of a Leader. Hempstead ISD is committed to developing strong leaders. The district is determined to fulfill its vision to cultivate confident learners and leaders who excel in all endeavors. Effective school leadership plays a pivotal role as school leaders establish a vision and uphold the necessary systems and culture to ensure excellence in instruction.
