Dear Hempstead Elementary Parents,
As we prepare for the new school year, we want to share some important information regarding student transportation to ensure a safe and smooth process for everyone. Please review the details below carefully.
Car Riders
Morning Drop-off: All morning car riders should be dropped off in the lot near Peebles Street. Drop-off begins at 7:10 AM, and the gate closes promptly at 7:38 AM. If you're in line by 7:38 AM, you'll be able to enter. If you arrive after this time, you'll need to sign your student in at the front office. The tardy bell rings at 7:41 AM.
Car Rider Tags: All vehicles picking up students must display a car rider tag with your student's first and last name. If you don't have a tag, you'll be asked to go to the front office to verify your identity and get a decal.
Safety Reminders:
Do not drop students off at the front of the school; this is not a designated drop-off area and is a safety concern without an adult present.
Please remain in your vehicle while in the car rider line.
Avoid using cell phones while driving or in the car rider line.
Ensure your child is ready to exit quickly from the right passenger side of the vehicle.
Pull all the way up in the line when signaled to keep traffic flowing.
We appreciate your patience, especially during the busy start of the school year.
Bus Riders
Bus Registration: If your child needs bus transportation, please call the front office to register. Please note that it can take up to 72 hours to establish a bus route for your child.
Bus Route Information with Stopfinder! Hempstead ISD uses Stopfinder! for bus routing. This tool provides real-time bus information directly to your phone. To use Stopfinder!, you must have an email address on file with the school district. If you don't, please contact your campus registrar.
Key features of Stopfinder!:
Know your child's bus schedule.
Receive push notifications for schedule changes or delays.
See bus substitutions clearly indicated.
Track multiple bus arrival times if you have more than one child.
Know exactly when your children arrive at school or home.
Enjoy two-way communication with the transportation office.
Access multilingual options within the app.
During the first few days of school, we recommend students be at their bus stop approximately 10 minutes prior to the estimated stop time. Bus routes and schedules may be adjusted as needed throughout the year.
Thank you for your cooperation in making transportation safe and efficient for all Hempstead Elementary students.
Sincerely,
The Hempstead Elementary Team
