The bond proposal includes an auxiliary gym for Hempstead Middle School. The campus has one gym, shared during the school day with physical education students, pre-athletics, and athletics class periods. This causes both girls and boys to share the gym during school, practices, and on game days. The addition of the auxiliary gym would help alleviate scheduling and class use issues by providing more space for physical education classes, athletic class periods, and athletic games ensuring a smoother and more efficient operation of school programs.
