Hempstead ISD is excited to announce the launch of Bobcat Champions, a new community ambassador program designed to strengthen relationships, increase transparency, and empower community members to become informed advocates for Hempstead ISD students and staff.
Beginning this September, Superintendent Herbert O’Neil will lead the inaugural Bobcat Champions cohort through an engaging series of interactive sessions that provide an inside look at the people, programs, and priorities driving student success across the district.
The program is open to parents, business owners, alumni, retirees, faith-based leaders, and community members who have a passion for public education and a desire to make a positive impact in Hempstead.
"Great schools are built through strong partnerships," Superintendent Herbert O'Neil said. "Bobcat Champions is an opportunity for our community to see firsthand the incredible work happening inside our schools while building lasting relationships that help move Hempstead ISD to Higher Heights."
Throughout the school year, participants will enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences including meetings with district leadership, facility tours, student showcases, and discussions about academics, finance, school safety, district student programs, and future district initiatives.
Participants will also receive exclusive Bobcat Champions recognition at a Board of Trustees meeting, VIP invitations to select district events, and the opportunity to become trusted ambassadors who help share the positive story of Hempstead ISD throughout the community.
Sessions will be held every other month from September through May and will include networking opportunities and interactive presentations from district leaders.
The inaugural class will be selected to represent a diverse cross-section of the Hempstead community, including parents, students, employees, business leaders, community organizations, alumni, and civic partners.
Applications will be accepted through August 17, 2026, with participants notified by the end of August.
Community members interested in becoming a Bobcat Champion are encouraged to apply online.
