The Hempstead High School UIL Academics Speech team made school history for the second time this year. During the 3A Region 3 Academic/Speech Tournament, on April 25.
All four students who competed at the contest are advancing to the state contest.
Prose:
Champion - Miguel Montero
1st Runner up - Tristan Allen
2nd Runner up - Jayson Mewis
Poetry:
2nd Runner Up - Octavio Lozoya
Hempstead High School will make up 25% of the entire prose contest at the state meet. The state contest will be held in Austin, Texas, on May 18-19.
