Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees met on Monday, April 20, 2026.
During the board meeting, Hempstead ISD Superintendent Herbert O’Neil provided his monthly Superintendent’s Report, provided Bond 2024 updates, and celebrated the April Students, Campus Teachers, and Support Staff of the Month. The pledges were led by Hempstead Middle School BETA Club students.

The Hempstead ISD Trustees approved the following action items:
Approved Budget Amendment #5.
Approved continuation of contract with district auditors Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P., for the 2025-2026 school year.
Approved action regarding SB 546: Required Reporting on School Bus Seat Belt Costs.
Approved amendment of the HISD Compensation Plan to include a flat rate of $75.00 for game duty workers assigned to district track meets.
Approved 2026-2027 Certification of Provision of Instructional Materials.
Approved Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with Waller County Elections Office for the May 2026 Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees Election.
The May Board meeting will be held on Monday, May 18, and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Hempstead ISD Administration Building Board Room.
