The Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, January 20, 2026
During the board meeting, Hempstead ISD Superintendent Herbert O’Neil provided his monthly Superintendent’s Report and celebrated the Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees, January Students, Campus Teachers, and Support Staff of the Month.
Hempstead Elementary School Kindergarten Leaders led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge to the Texas Flag.
Students Recognized
Each campus selects one student of the month from each grade level to be recognized for their excellence, efforts, and achievement in being outstanding students on campus.

The proposed Purchase and Renovation of Headquarters Building was provided by The Waller County Appraisal District.
Special Education Program Updates were provided by Director of Special Education, Dr. Kimberly Harvey.
Bond 2024 Updates: A Bond 2024 update was provided by project managers from Gallagher Construction during the meeting.

Trustees Approve Action Items
The Hempstead ISD Trustees approved the following action items:
Approved renewed Resolution for the 2026-2027 Truancy Prevention Grant/Office of the Texas Governor. Grant Number 38747-08.
Approved the Order Calling Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees Election for May 2, 2026 (Position 4 and Position 7).
Approved Resolution Authorizing Submission of an Application for the Office of the Governor School Safety Grant Program. Grant Number 5688101.
The February Board meeting will be held on Monday, February 23, and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Hempstead ISD Administration Building Board Room.
