The Hempstead SD Board of Trustees voted to approve pay raises for Hempstead ISD staff during the August 18 board meeting. The compensation plan for the 2025-26 school year includes raises for teachers, paraprofessionals, and other district staff who have been continuously employed since January 6, 2025.
The decision reflects the board’s ongoing commitment to recognizing the dedication and hard work Hempstead ISD staff pour into educating each Bobcat student.
Key highlights of the approved raises:
Teachers with 1-2 years of experience will receive a 2% raise
Teachers with 3–4 years of experience will receive a $4,000 raise.
Teachers with 5 or more years of experience will receive an $8,000 raise.
Hourly staff will receive a 4% raise based on the midpoint of their pay scale.
All administrator and professional staff will receive a 2% raise based on the midpoint of their pay scale.
The approved plan comes directly as a result of House Bill 2, passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session, which allocated state funds to ensure teachers across Texas receive $4,000 or $8,000 raises based on years of experience.
This decision highlights the district’s commitment to attracting and retaining quality educators and staff.
