Third-grade students at Hempstead Elementary School are now officially published authors after coauthoring a class book titled All About Us, under the guidance of their teacher, Valarie Minor
Each school year, Minor leads her class through the entire writing process—brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing, to create a collaborative classroom book. This year’s theme, All About Us, allowed students to write personal reflections and stories about themselves. Each student also illustrated their own page, making the book a unique snapshot of their third-grade journey.
“My students work so hard each year,” said Minor. “We use the complete writing process. This project helps build their confidence as writers.”
The project not only celebrated students' creativity and writing skills but also emphasized the importance of self-expression and personal growth.
The young authors are excited about their book and are proud to share their stories with their families and classmates.
