Transportation

School Bus

We are excited about the opportunity to provide transportation to and from school and other events for the students of our district. A successful Transportation Department is an integral part of the educational process and we will take every step to ensure we deliver students to school as safely and efficiently as possible. Transportation is provided for students to and from the bus stop designated to service the student's residence of record. Students are expected to ride their assigned bus and load/unload only at their assigned stop.

StopFinder! Bus App

Overview

Hempstead ISD uses Stopfinder! as our bus routing software. Bus routes and stop locations may be accessed through the use of the Stopfinder! tool. To use this tool parents/guardians must have an email address on file with the school district. If you do not have an email address on file, please contact your campus registrar.

Estimated bus stop times are available through the Stopfinder! tool. During the first few days of school, it is recommended that students are ready at the bus stop approximately 10 minutes prior to the estimated stop time until regular route schedules are established. Please be aware that bus routes and schedules may be modified as the school year continues in order to best meet the needs of our students.

With Stopfinder, you can know when your child’s bus arrives at school – in real time!

What the App Can Do?

  • View your student’s daily transportation assignments

  • Live View of Bus Location

  • Securely share your student’s schedule with other family members or guardians

  • Receive notifications and updates related to transportation

  • Send messages to the Transportation Department through the app

  • If you have multiple students in the district, you will see them all within the app together and see their specific assignments, even if they are at different schools.

The app can be downloaded on Apple or Android devices.

Bus Safety & Behavior Expectations

At Hempstead ISD, student safety is our top priority, on campus and on the way to and from school. Riding the bus is a privilege, and we’re committed to creating a safe, respectful, and positive experience for all students.

To support this, we ask that all riders:

  • Follow the driver’s instructions at all times

  • Stay seated and keep aisles clear

  • Speak respectfully and use appropriate language

  • Keep hands, feet, and belongings to themselves

  • Help keep the bus clean and free of distractions

  • When waiting on the bus, stay 10 ft away from the roadway

  • Students must remain quiet while crossing the railroad tracks

We partner with families to ensure students understand and follow these expectations. If a student’s actions create an unsafe environment, campus staff will work closely with parents/guardians to address the concern and support positive choices moving forward.

Transportation Discipline:

  • 1st Bus Discipline Referral: Student warning and parent notification by campus admin.

  • 2nd Bus Discipline Referral: 3-day student bus suspension and parent

    notification by campus admin.

  • 3rd Bus Discipline Referral: 10-day student bus suspension and parent notification by campus admin.

  • 4th Bus Discipline Referral: Semester student bus suspension and parent notification by campus admin. Parent conference with the student,

    parent/guardian, campus administrator, and transportation

    representative.

All discipline will depend on the severity of the infraction as

indicated in the student handbook/code of conduct. Campus

    administration has discretionary authorization.

Together, we can make every ride a safe one!
