WELCOME TO THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT

The Communications Department promotes district students, staff and programs by disseminating news releases and photography to local media outlets. In addition, it assists in providing content on the district’s website and social media channels, produces external and internal news information, and organizes several districtwide special events throughout the year.

Media Policy

  • The Communications Department must approve requests for interviews and photographs with teachers, students and staff at all Hempstead ISD facilities before scheduling.
  • Media is not permitted on Hempstead ISD property without a Communications team member present.
  • A Hempstead ISD Communications team member will accompany news media at all times on district property.

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

In times of inclement weather or other emergencies impacting district operations, including delayed starts and school closures, the district will contact parents and staff via multiple sources. Local media will also be contacted.
