As a new teacher of the month at Hempstead ISD, he received a #risktaker t-shirt donated by MaBisha Stubblefield (Bisha’s Bling), a Mary Kay gift bag donated by Jackie Craver and a certificate to display in his room.

Ward was honored to receive the award. “Mr. Ward has great relationships with the students,” said Melissa Skinner, HISD Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “He is always seeking to learn new ideas and to dig deep into his Texas History standards.” According to Skinner, Mr. Ward is 'The Real Deal!' and she said, “He is a positive light and we are so glad he joined our team!”

Ward is a new teacher at Hempstead Middle School who teaches 7th grade Texas History. “Working with Coach Ward is a pleasure,” said Debra Woolley, K-12 Social Studies Instructional Coach. “He is open to new ideas and is willing to step up when needed.” “He has an infectious positive attitude and is always wearing a smile,” said Woolley. “It is obvious that the students enjoy being in his class and are motivated to learn Texas History,” she said. “I am honored to work alongside him and watch him grow as a teacher.”

Ward is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and he coaches football, basketball and track this year. His favorite quote is one by Martin Luther King, Jr. “Intelligence plus character – that is the true goal of education.”
