Important Information

The 2015-2016 accreditation status of the Hempstead ISD is Accredited-Probation.  Under state law, the accreditation statuses that may be assigned to districts include Accredited, Accredited-Warned, Accredited Probation, and Not Accredited-Revoked.  A status of Accredited-Probation means that a district exhibits deficiencies in performance that, if not addressed, will lead to revocation of the district's accreditation status.

Public Notification of Nondiscrimination in Career and Technical Education Programs

Hempstead ISD offers career and technical education programs in business, management and administration; accounting; agriculture, food and natural resources; career preparation; computer automated drawing (CAD); human services; manufacturing and welding; health science; and information technology.  Admission to these programs is based on student interest, age, and grade requirements specified by TEA as well as availability and teacher recommendation.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals Offered at HISD

Hempstead ISD announced its policy today for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the current income eligibility guidelines set by the state. Each school/site or the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by anyone on request.

Starting on Monday, August 24, Hempstead ISD will begin distributing letters to the households of the children in the district about eligibility benefits and any actions households need to take to apply for these benefits. Applications will go out in the first day packets. Applications also are available on-line as well as the cafeteria, each campus office, and central office.
