Accreditation Status

Hempstead ISD Accreditation Status for 2017-2018

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) awards an accreditation status to each public school district and charter school. The accreditation status is based on the academic accountability rating and financial ratings from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. A district or charter must be accredited by the state to operate as a public school.

The accreditation statuses for school district and charter schools across the state were released by TEA on Friday, February 9, 2018.

Under the Texas Education Code, the commissioner of education annually assigns accreditation statuses to each school district and charter school. Accreditation statuses for the 2017-2018 school year include: Accredited (1,185); Accredited-Warned (9); Accredited-Probation (2); Not Accredited-Revoked (4); and Pending (1).

A status of Accredited-Warned means that a district exhibits deficiencies in performance that, if not addressed, will lead to probation or revocation of the district's accreditation status.
